SHOW NOTES:

55 The question we get from venues all the time that led to this episode.
00 The things that are most likely to go wrong in an email response.
00 One (slightly uncomfortable) way you can know if you need to make these changes to your email templates.
48 The importance of the auto-response email. Here’s what you must get right there.
20 Here’s the heart of this episode: how to get the RFP (or “initial response”) email template right.
03 How to personalize your email template when you have very little info.
16 A real-world example of how to “surprise and delight” in an email where you have very little information about the potential couple.
58 The deciding factor for many Millennials: they want to feel like you could be friends.
58 A really smart strategy that can help you personalize your emails very quickly.
18: How to use your venue’s superpowers in this email template.
19 How to include a call to action in your email template.
26 Meredith’s soapbox issue: PLEASE create and use a quality custom email signature. Serious rant follows.
50 Things we think you should NOT include. (This may be controversial, buckle up.)
52 How this first personalized response email is like a “first date”. Don’t overshare too quickly.
01 How to handle follow up emails.
37 The famous “Toothpaste” email.

The email that you send in response to a couple's inquiry is the entranceway to your home. This is where you need to shine. If you are sending an RFP response to a Millennial or Gen Z couple and they even *sniff* that it is a template that you send to everyone, you have already lost the game.

Mary Claire Newcomb joined the Here Comes The Guide team in 2018 and instantly charmed all of her wedding venue clients along the East Coast. When she isn’t chatting it up with her clients and making their day undoubtedly more enjoyable, she's outdoors soaking in the fresh air and beauty of nature with her daughter and husband. Oh, and she's also a jewelry designer and maker. Yep, she’s the ultimate gem.

Meredith Monday Schwartz started at Here Comes The Guide in 1997 (we didn't even have a website back then—there might also have been dinosaurs running around!) and was a wedding venue specialist for 10 years before taking over as Chief Bossypants in 2007. In the years since she joined HCTG, she's learned a lot about wedding couples, wedding venues, and running a company profitably—and well.
