This module solves this very real problem: How can I do a site tour when I can't have couples on site? In this first module of the Venue Business Boot Camp, we show you, step-by-step, how to give a quality, sell-out-your-calendar site tour with you on site and the couple in the comfort (and safety!) of their home. The good news is that you’ll be able to use this during COVID-19, yes, but ALSO far beyond. It’s a truly money-generating skill to have.
Refer to the time-stamped show notes below when you want to revisit any particular portions of the episode.
1:26 Chelsea’s background - she’s sat in your chair as an Event Manager.
2:40 Why we decided to do a full module on Virtual Site Tours - Spoiler alert: COVID rears its ugly head.
4:10 What exactly is a Virtual Site Tour and why might it be useful even after COVID?

21:12 How to find out what the couple’s vision is for their event and show them how it can translate to your venue.
22:10 How to point out places at your venue that will make for amazing photos. It’s an Instagram world, let’s show them your venue can give them great images.
23:23 Show your couple how their event will “flow” at your venue.
25:15 How to make the sale after the Virtual Site Tour.
28:42 Giving the couple their proposal document and talking money.

The good news is that you’ll be able to use this during COVID-19, yes, but ALSO far beyond. This tool allows you to expand your reach. You can now tour couples from all over the world. And their families!

This worksheet walks you through all of the important questions to ask your couples before the site tour begins. We suggest using this as a guide during the first 10–15 minutes of your call, NOT sending this to couples to fill out in advance. The collaborative process is much more personal!

Chelsea Dahl could very well be crowned the Queen of Weddings. She's worked in the wedding industry for over a decade and has done it all: from venue sales and full event coordination to floral design and wedding venue marketing. She sees the industry from every angle and brings a fresh eye and venue-focused perspective to all things Here Comes The Guide.
Meredith Monday Schwartz started at Here Comes The Guide in 1997 (we didn't even have a website back then—there might also have been dinosaurs running around!) and was a wedding venue specialist for 10 years before taking over as Chief Bossypants in 2007. In the years since she joined HCTG, she's learned a lot about wedding couples, wedding venues, and running a company profitably—and well.
