Asking the Right Questions for a Memorable Wedding Experience

I’ve been talking to a lot of venues recently about how to do the very best site tours. There’s one piece of advice I give to all of them.

When the couple arrives, don’t just set out on the site tour. Take just a very few minutes to ask them a couple of questions. This will pay off in spades during the tour.

And no, it’s not “What’s your capacity? or “What date are you interested in?”. Those things get handled organically.

No, I urge you to take a moment to get in their headspace – find out what really matters to them about their wedding.

One way to do that is to ask, “What is the one thing you most want to remember from your wedding, after it’s all over?”

They may need a minute to think about it. You might say, “Is it the ceremony? The vows? Or something in the reception? What do you want to have vivid memories of long after the wedding is over?”

First, they’ll love that you cared to ask. That will go a long way.

But second, by starting the conversation with what they really want for their most special day, you will then be able to tailor your site tour to telling the story of their event at your venue.

And THAT will help you make the sale.

TO DO FOR YOU:

Think about this: Are you spending time getting into the hearts and minds of your couples before you launch into the tour?
